Think St Germain de
Pres, Paris, late afternoon in Autumn, sun streaming thru
golden cedars.
Think trendy little street cafes with beautiful
people drinking coffee and smiling large white smiles even
though they smoke.
Now think of a tragic squawking violinist
busker just up the road and the threat which he poses to this
picture of perfection.
A voice whispers to our Antipodean heroine
Déah, "If you don't play that
cafe.... he will..."
She grabs a stool, sits directly before the
streetside crowd and begins to strum, "Oh Lord, wont
you buy me, a Mercedes Benz..."
As she collected her moneys one man slipped
her his number along with ten francs. He said his name was
Art, he had a little home studio and would
she like to come over and record some tunes sometime cos he
was blown away.
She agreed.
They smiled.
She came and they wrote a song.
It was amazing so she moved in.
And so the loveGods
began (though not called the loveGods at this point)
They wrote more songs.
He taught her French.
She taught him to cook.
They moved to London.
Got a major deal, major depression and then
got majorly dropped. They didn't care and bought a website
for their new band the very next day. Met a sensitive drum
whacker called Rob from Hackney who started
playing gigs with them. Everybody says he's amazing cos he
is. Built a following of die hard fans who are absolutely
devoted to them. Recorded an EP - Give
me a new God cos this one is Broken.
Toured with the Fun Lovin Criminals.
Supported The Darkness. Wrote more songs.
Recorded a Mini Album - Between
Dogs and Wolves.
After many years of searching they found
a killer bassist called Mezza from Australia.
He is amazing too.
Played Glastonbury, France,
Sweden, Australia. Glastonbury
again. Guilfest etc. Played on TV in France
because the French realise how great they are and kiss them
a lot and buy them champagne when they play.
Recorded a debut album, Audience
of One, limited edition release on 4th
October 2005.
Everybody who sees them is blown away and
knows they are huge. The world just takes a little while to
catch on sometimes.
